YouTube recently announced its plans of integrating a new AR feature accessible through its mobile app, that will allow virtual make-up try on. The “Beauty Try-On” feature has now been officially launched. Users will now be able to try on and shop lipsticks from MAC Cosmetics from YouTube creator Roxette Arisa’s makeup tutorial video. While this might now sound very unique, there might be more complex AR integrations on the way.
This feature will work, when a user is watching a makeup video on the latest version of the YouTube application. Pressing a button labeled “try it on” will automatically launch your phone’s camera in sp;lit screen. As the video continues to play, you will be able to keep trying various variants of the make-up.
As per reports, MAC Cosmetics will work with creators through YouTube’s branded content division, Famebit. More brands might eventually collaborate with this AR feature.
YouTube’s feature is definitely unique in comparison to other make-up tryouts out there as it is a dedicated and accurate AR-powered ad campaign, rather than just a fun experience.
